Tanım
A. nordmanniana (Stev.) Spach, Hist. Veg. Phan. 11:418 (1842). Syn: A. pectinata sensu Boiss., Fl. Or. 5: 701 (1884) non DC. Tall tree, up to 35 m. Bark of young shoots greyish, later greyish-black, glabrous or hairy. Leaves linear, or linear-oblong, acute to truncate-emarginate.
Cones cylindrical, resinous, the bracts exserted from the scales, turned up at their ends. Divisible into 3 subspecies:
1. Leaves somewhat acute; buds not resinous; young shoots glabrous subsp. equi-trojani
1. Leaves truncate or emarginate; buds resinous and/or shoots hairy
2. Shoots hairy; buds usually not resinous subsp. nordmanniana
2. Shoots glabrous; buds usually resinous subsp. bornmueileriana
subsp. bornmueileriana (Mattf.) Coode & Cullen in Notes R.B.G. Edinb. 26: 167 (1965). Map 5, p. 69. Syn: Abies bornmuelleriana Mattf. in Not. Bot. Gart. Berl. 9: 239 (1925). Frequently a dominant tree, (0-)1000-1940 m.
Many syntypes from Olympus (Ulu Da.) and Paphlagonia.

Endemic, Euxine element; one specimen from A3 Bolu (above Devrek, at Yedigöl, 1000 m, D. 37743) approaches subsp. nordmanniana in having hairy young shoots.
